The initiatives also focus on enhancing Dubai’s leadership among the best cities in the world in innovation and technology, and supporting efforts to achieve the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), by doubling the size of Dubai’s economy until 2033 and consolidating its superiority among the top three economic cities in the world.

This came while His Highness chaired the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Future Technology and the Digital Economy, where the committee’s business report was reviewed, which included the results and developments related to previous projects, in addition to following up on the progress of implementation of current projects. The meeting also discussed the progress made in these projects and the extent to which they achieve the set strategic goals, in addition to future plans and projects.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum confirmed that the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, took care of him. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum pointed out that the innovative projects cover the areas of government work, investing in people, building Emirati capabilities, enabling emerging companies to grow and expand, and preserving the aesthetic landscape of the Emirate of Dubai within a purposeful urban vision to enhance sustainability.

His Highness stressed that converting government assets into innovative commercial projects constitutes a qualitative leap in strengthening Dubai’s position as a global economic power, and that achieving this transformation requires empowering national competencies and supporting youth in the fields of technology and innovation. His Highness said: “Building a strong and sustainable digital economy requires investing in the capabilities of the national cadre, especially the youth, because they are the real engine behind achieving Dubai’s ambitious vision of digital transformation and pioneering the future.”

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said, in a post on the “X” platform yesterday: “During the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Future Technology and the Digital Economy, we launched an initiative to train 5,000 Emiratis in future technology within 5 years, and qualify them to work in private technology companies, as part of A package of projects and initiatives aimed at promoting the growth of emerging companies, supporting national competencies, and consolidating innovation and entrepreneurship.”

His Highness added: “Dubai today is a city that does not stop at the borders of global competition, but rather creates its future with its own hands by enhancing national competencies and talents, and providing a stimulating environment for creativity and leadership.”

His Highness continued: “We will continue to work with the vision of Mohammed bin Rashid to achieve our ambitions to build a strong and sustainable digital economy that serves our future generations and places Dubai at the forefront of the world’s cities.”

His Highness also reviewed the results of the Campus Dubai Artificial Intelligence Complex, which attracted more than 130 startup companies within five months of its launch. Pioneering projects

The pioneering projects approved by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum include the National Government Projects Building Platform, which aims to transform government assets into innovative commercial projects, and the Technical Jobs Enhancement Program, which will train 5,000 Emiratis to join major international technology companies within five years. And the “IGNYTE” digital platform to help startups grow and expand globally from Dubai, in addition to the “Cleanscape” project, which uses technology to preserve the beauty of Dubai.

Platform for building national government projects

The “National Government Projects Building Platform” aims to enhance innovation and entrepreneurship in government agencies in Dubai, by converting government assets into commercial projects, or developing new products and services, which contributes to achieving the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).

The platform facilitates the development of government projects by building strategic partnerships, such as cooperation between the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center and Campus Dubai for Artificial Intelligence, to accelerate the development of the commercial space market in the Emirates, through “Space Laboratories for Earth.” The projects approved in the first phase also include developing solutions based on artificial intelligence to improve public safety and emergency response.

Technical Job Enhancement Program

As for the Technical Jobs Enhancement Program, it aims to invest in Emirati people and support national competencies, especially fourth-year students in technical specializations in universities. The program aims to train 5,000 Emiratis in the fields of future technology within five years and qualify them to work in the private sector. The program also focuses on preparing students to enter the labor market in major technology companies, by providing them with the skills they need to succeed in this rapidly developing and growing sector.

The project also seeks to bridge the gap between education and the technical labor market, by training students on work skills in the digital sector, thus enhancing opportunities for employing national competencies in technical fields, enhancing their contribution to building Dubai’s digital economy, and supporting the sustainability of digital transformation in the emirate.

IGNYTE platform

The approved initiatives include the launch of the “IGNYTE” digital platform to enable the next generation of startups and entrepreneurs to grow and expand at the regional and international levels, starting from Dubai. The platform developed by the Dubai International Financial Centre, the leading global financial center in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region, is expected to play a major role in supporting Dubai’s digital economy strategy, as it aims to empower more than 100,000 startup companies and entrepreneurs by 2029. Within the framework of Dubai seeks to enhance its position as a global center for entrepreneurship. The platform works to connect company founders with a global network that includes investors, mentors, commercial institutions, and government bodies, which contributes to creating an integrated system that enhances opportunities for growth and innovation.

In order to achieve the maximum benefit for startups joining the platform, Ignite seeks to significantly expand the scope of its services by 2029, by attracting 5,000 venture capitalists and investors, 5,000 mentors and experts, along with more than 500 companies and government partners, and providing 5,000 Exclusive feature. These integrated features are expected to help startups achieve financial savings exceeding $100 million. The first phase of launching the Ignite platform will begin in Dubai during the last quarter of 2024, and will expand to the UAE in the first quarter of 2026, and then to the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in the second quarter of the same year.

The projects within the approved package of initiatives included the “Cleanscape” project, which aims to improve the quality of life in Dubai and improve its facilities and the aesthetics of the city using advanced data-based technologies. This project was designed in collaboration with the MIT Senseable City Lab in Dubai, and aims to use technology and link it to demographic and traffic data to identify vital points in the city. The project relies on combining traditional solutions, such as cooperation with municipal teams, and modern technologies, such as computer vision, to analyze data related to usage patterns and population density.

The “Cleanscape” project aims to improve the efficiency of urban resource management and enhance sustainability by reducing costs and improving the public environment, in addition to enhancing the city’s appearance and applying the latest technologies to achieve a sustainable and advanced urban environment, which enhances Dubai’s vision of becoming a smart city that relies on technology to achieve quality of life.
